There is little that I enjoy more than a peaceful acoustic album. I especially love it when metal bands decide to strip everything away and do an all acoustic album.
Afsky typically plays black metal, pretty damn good black metal at that. On his latest EP - I stilhed - Afsky done exactly what I alluded to before: there is no metal here. This is a 20 minute acoustic EP.
This is about as bare bones as you can get. This is just a dude and his guitar. Nothing more and nothing less. No ambient noises, no atmospheric sounds, just one to two guitars playing simple and peaceful melodies.
I quite enjoy the way that the guitars are produced on here. They are so clean and just have an air about them that lets the music "breathe."
With the album being so short it fits on a single side of an LP. This just means that I don't have to flip the record over every time I want to listen. A simple but nice touch... very much like the music contained within the grooves.
