"I'm sitting here listening to an album where the dude sounds like he trapped in a mental ward against his will, screaming for help." ~ Me a few minutes ago talking to one of my friends about this very album.
This album is a difficult listen. Aside from the aforementioned vocals the music simply tears at your sanity slowly but surely. The riffs are not quite right, the drums are slightly out of sync, and the atmosphere just howls and claws at your mental health.
Entity passes almost all of my quality checks for a good album. Its engaging. It is unpredictable with a gnarly integration of melody and dissonance (often at the same time). There are welcomed supersizes, such as an acoustic guitar out of nowhere, chilling clean vocals and effective use of silence.
This is my introduction to the band and they certainly made a strong first impression. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come out with in the future. For the time being though Entity is one hell of an album.
