Entry 185 - Bahamut Lagoon

Out of all the soundtracks I never thought would get a vinyl release, this one is near the top of that list. I played this game on a rom emulator in about 2002 and enjoyed the hell out of the game.

Bahamut Lagoon's soundtrack is near the top of the SNES soundtracks for me. The way that the instrumentation is used as well as common themes throughout the music makes the release incredibly cohesive and enjoyable.

The way the sounds are designed to go with the SNES truly shows a mastery of the sound chip and how to get maximum utilization out of the music channels present on the system. At no point during this do I feel like an instrument sounds out of place or poorly produced.

Out of all my SNES soundtracks this one and Final Fantasy VI hit the table the most. They both come from that golden age of Squaresoft that will never be replicated at this point. That's what nostalgia is though, memories of better times that we can't go back to.
