What a majestic album. Wow what a majestic collection of compositions.
This album has three songs averaging around 15 minutes each. They each take their time to paint a portrait, a slow and steady winding of melodies and atmospheres. Each composition is a slightly different take on the same theme, like three separate views of the same landscape. It's similar but each angle reveals it's own treasures.
That's all well and good, but what makes the album majestic? It's the way that the synths are layered and played. The way that the melodies repeat hypnotically wisps me away to far away lands. Additionally the keyboards have that early 90's production to them, this is the fast track to get into my heart. It's just so enjoyable to listen to.
Out of all the dungeon synth that I've picked up this year, this one is likely near the top. It never gets stale, it keeps evolving, and it hearkens back to the glory days of the genre so successfully. I know nothing else about this project other than the 45 minutes of this album, but I sure hope that there is more out there - because this is exactly the reason why I got back into this genre.
