Loveless represents one of those wonderful albums that surprised me, even though it comes from a genre I don't normally like. These are the best kind of albums, ones that overcome the limitations of their genre and make something truly enjoyable... even for those who don't normally partake.
There is a vibe to this album that is infectious. It invites you to slow down, shed your expectations, and just be. The way these songs are arranged are simple, but so so effective. The music washes over you and works its way into every pore as the slow grooves will your body to sway.
The melodies are played with so much reverb that its almost amusing. I'm a self admitted reverb whore, so this does wonders for me. It's not just the reverb though, its the lackadaisical way that the songs are structured. They aren't in any hurry to get anywhere... they want to experience the journey just as much as get to the destination.
This record has been on my turntable for nearly 24 hours straight and had at least a dozen times. This is going to be on my short list of albums to turn to when I want to sit back and let go of the world for 30 minutes. Just incredible.
