With the new pokemon duo of games coming out in the next few weeks I figured I would get myself in the mood by revisiting one of my favorite soundtracks in the series.
The original Pokemon Red and Blue are something I never got into. The gameboy just was not my thing, never got too into any of the games on the system. When the remakes came out on Switch I figured I would give it a try.
While the controls were incredibly wonky the game itself was very fun. I loved that it focused more on capturing and collecting pokemon in the wild and then you had the battles with the trainers themselves. A nice change of pace, at least for me.
The music also was a huge step up. The fully orchestrated renditions of the Red and Blue games hit just right. One of the few instances where I prefer an orchestrated version over the originals.
By pulling in a full orchestra the game fleshed out so many things, not just in the music... it enhanced the entire game. I really enjoyed the time that I spent with the game, largely in part because of the music that was within it. So here's hoping that not only the game but the soundtrack to Scarlet and Violet are a step above as well.
