Entry 245 - Bethlehem - Dictius Te Necare

This album is used as a reference point for me. It is the definitive album when for truly tortured vocals. This album goes well beyond anything else that I have heard, nothing else comes close.

The music itself is pretty tame compared to the vocal accompaniment. It's essentially a more controlled version of the craziness that was the debut album - Dark Metal. On that album they sound like they are just throwing random things together and somehow it works.

On Dictius Te Necare the riffs feel more intentional, the song structures are more in line with what one might expect... a bit more predictable. A bit less haphazard.

That said the music is far from conventional. The transitions are jarring, irrational, and a bit on the insane side... just much less so than before. All that is secondary to the vocals though.

This dude has seen stuff... and I mean s e e n things. You don't make these sounds if you are sane. You don't make these sounds even if you are slightly insane. Your voice can only do this if you have stared into the abyss and it swallowed you whole. You are a bit less human and a bit more a beast with these sounds... this simply is not natural. A human is not meant to sound like this.
