Sol Corrupto flips all that on its head. The first song (by far the shortest of the three) plays to what the band has created to this point in their backlog. It's noisy riffing. It's impossible to tell what is truly happening with the riffs, the vocals and drums added in create nothing short of a cacophony. It's also here where anything "normal" and expected from the band ends.
The remaining two songs are guitar driven ambience. There is little to no structure (even less so than normal), there are little to no vocals or percussion. This is simply soundscapes created with distortion and feedback. These are less songs and moreso droning passages of sound waves.
I wasn't sure what I thought of the album at first, but after a few listens I quite like this. They are certainly not the first band to play in this style but coming from such a chaotic back catalogue this is indeed a large change. If nothing else the band has remained consistent in one thing: Sol Corrupto is much more of an experience than an album.
