Entry 264 - Chicory

I've got less than two thousand characters to summarize an album that is over two hours long. This is going to be what we call an executive level overview.

Chicory is a game I have not played, I may at some point but I got this album completely because Lena Raine did the music for it. She is undoubtedly one of my absolute favorite composers in the video game music scene. The fact that her albums are getting released on vinyl so consistently now makes me very happy.

This 4 LP set in particular has all of the trademarks of her sound. It's not as focused as Celeste, but much of the same instrumentation and note/chord progressions are used here as well. They are tasteful small reminders of who the composer is... they never feel out of place or forced in.

As the album expands real instruments are added into the fold. If anything they seem to be more frequent from LP 2 and onward. The music also seems to get darker as the album progresses as well.

Is this something I'm going to break out and listen to frequently? Probably not, I hate the inconvenience of a boxed set. It's a pain to get everything out and it takes up a ton of counter space. That said the music in the album is quite excellent and despite my hatred of boxed sets this will be hitting my turntable again in the future.
