Entry 221 - Remember - The City is My Friend

 

I keep thinking about how I want to start my summary of this album. I've gone through moments where I want to focus on how parts of the album are more percussion driven vs. the more ambient styles found later in the album. I've written about how the album mixes melodies with ambience exceptionally well. I've written about how this was one of my first ever dreampunk records. All of these descriptions are left on the cutting room floor.

As I'm sitting here I really don't know what I want to write about it... I'm truly at a loss. The album is fantastic. It's ambient, it's beat driven, the melodies are captivating and hypnotic. I can try to write that four hundred different ways and it still wouldn't convey my feelings. It's incredibly frustrating.

I'm about ready to give up.. the only thing that I'll say is the City is My Friend is the perfect album title. This is incredibly urban and incredibly inviting. It knows exactly what it is and does not try to extend beyond those boundaries. This creates a focused album that sweeps me into Remember's world whenever I listen to it.
