Black metal with good production? Is this blasphemy...? What an ironic question...
On Trolldom's second album from 2022 the band is playing significantly shorter songs. Instead of four tracks in 50 minutes, we have nine tracks in 50 minutes.
The shorter songs are no less intense than those found on Av gudars att... In fact they may be more so.
Every song on here is as fine tuned as a Swiss watch. Every note is played with exact precision, every drum beat is exactly on time, every single moment of the album is deliberate. This is undoubtedly maniacal in nature, and its undeniably black metal.
That begs the initial question. This album has outstanding and clear production, does that detract from the music? I would argue that with this specific release a muddied production would take away from the meticulous nature of the release.
By making each note crystal clear the listener is able to fully appreciate the vision of Swartadaupuz. With everything being so calculated and vicious, I actually think that a more traditional black metal production would detract from the release rather than add to it.
