Entry 113 - 36 - Symmetry Systems

 

I've been wanting to take Symmetry Systems off turntable all day. There are so many other things I want to listen to. The album just refuses to cooperate though.

Every time the album ends I go right back to the turntable and start it up again. The album simply compels me to listen.

Its eight tracks long. Each one is exceedingly similar to the others. The instrumentation, melodies, and atmosphere throughout the album simply belong together. The effect makes the album akin to 8 movements to the same song rather than individual tracks.

The tones are rich. The production is just slightly obscured. The melodies are simple and repeat hypnotically, never overstaying their welcome. It all adds up to a rather minimal affair, one that is used to maximum effort.

While writing this I just flipped the record over again. I swear this album should be put on the banned substances list, its that addictive. It will eventually leave my turntable, but until that day I'm going to be enjoying the beautiful melodies from 3six.
