My brain hasn't been working quite right the last few days. I just feel mentally slow and its really frustrating. Albums like The Other Side of Darkness help me get back into a good mental space.
This is minimalist ambient, and it has no qualms hiding what it is. These are simple soundscapes that whisk the listener away in one direction or another at the whims of the music - very similar to what Brian Eno did on the Ambient albums.
Everything has a huge delay on it, the simple synths, the elongated guitar tones, the whispers in the background. It all feels ethereal, not of this world. A place that is a little less defined, a place where time moves a bit slower. A place where you can go to heal.
This isn't the kind of album I will listen to very often, but it has a very specific place in my collection. Both 36 and Awakened Souls have excellent solo works, and their sound coming together is everything that I had hoped it would be.
