Entry 043 - Trevor Something - Ultraparanoia

When your collection starts to grow its easy to forget albums that you've had for a while. To combat this I created a random album selector in my collection spreadsheet. Today Ultraparanoia was selected.

Trevor Something creates his own version of vocally driven synthwave. The music has a dark, melancholy sway to it that draws me in and keeps hold of my attention.

Trevor's voice is the key component that creates his sound. Its heavily reverbed and delivered nearly as a whisper, the end result is rather hypnotic. It compliments the music perfectly and the tracks feel more complete with the vocals included rather than being instrumentals.

Ultraparanoia is a deceptively complex album. On the surface its a dark pop version of synthwave, but there are a lot of hidden elements to the songs. From random noise effects to reverberations of Trevor's voice. There is a lot here if you really want to dig in, and its quite rewarding when you do.

Its albums like this why I love my random album selector - I keep forgetting I have these records and every so often I'm reminded that they exist and I am very happy that they do.
