Subtlety is not
something this record does well, in fact I would say that this is near
the antithesis of it. Heirophant upper cut you right off the bat and
never stop pummeling you until the 25 minute record is complete.
This
is a combination of death metal, hardcore, and d-beat - all genres
which are known for their aggression. The album simply does not stop -
every song is intended to be played on maximum volume and absolutely
obliterate everything in its path.
Despite its aggressive
leanings, not every song on here is played at a blistering pace. What
Son of the Four Hands Way lacks in speed, it more than makes up for in
feedback laden riffs - even at a slower pace it is still an assault on
the ears.
Great Mother: Holy Monster is not the type of album
that I listen to very frequently. However when I want something short
and kicks all sorts of ass then this is on the short list of albums to
spin.
