Sphynx should be a top ten album for me. The drumming is incredible, the guitar riffs are well written and intense, the vocals leave a little to be desired but that's never been a huge detractor for me in the past.
The album is also unique. The riffs are written in a distinctly middle eastern style. The instant you put Meclechesh on you KNOW its them. A feat most bands never achieve.
Yet... I can't get into this. Everything is here, the riffs, the ambience, the unique styling... but it just doesn't click. It's just kind of there.
I feel like I'm missing out on a great album, but you like what you like. For whatever reason this album is just simply something that does not jive with me.
