Entry 094 - Killer Cuts

Picture this: teenage me super excited that the Ultra 64 arcade game Killer Instinct is coming to SNES. I finally get it in my hands and there is this bonus CD in there. Killer Cuts? What is this?

That CD to got played so many times its worn out. I still have it laying around somewhere.

Part two of the story comes when I'm walking through a local record shop. I am flipping through stacks and I see what looked like Saberwulf, I go back and it says Killer Cuts... there's no way right? Yep, there it is.

Killer Cuts is essentially the arcade version of the soundtrack with a few extra bits thrown in. It just reeks of 90's goodness. The synths are right in that golden age where we are out of the retro style of the 80's but we haven't yet hit the super crisp and clean versions that are currently in the EDM scene. Its a wonderful period of transition.

I put this record on a few times a year to experience a metric ton of nostalgia to the face. I've said this before, but this is the reason why I listen to some video game music. The music may or may not be good, but it reminds me of a simpler time in my life. Killer Cuts reminds me of when I was more concerned with getting an Ultra Combo than I was about any of the tom foolery going on in the world.
