While so much of lofi hip hop sounds similar, if not the same, few artists take strides to truly stand out. On Seeds Eevee accomplishes this by a combination of interesting sampling, varied beats (along side percussion styles used), and cleaver arrangements.
The production is the staple of the genre: a granular cassette played too many times. There is a wide array of instruments sampled/used here, jazz instrumentation, pianos, various vocalists, and some traditional Japanese instrumentation.
The songs on Seeds tell a story. Each one gives a small glimpse into some event or moment that has transpired in the past. As such there is a strong nostalgic feel to the album as a whole, if not a hint of regret.
Seeds is one of those rare albums within the lofi genre that stands out in positive ways while still remaining within the confines of the genre. It acts as a measuring stick for other artists within lofi hip hop to strive for and shows what a seemingly stagnant genre can do when injected with some creativity.
