Entry 320 - Oatmello - Soft Landing

Some days you just need a chill record to start. A while back I went on a huge instrumental hip hop kick and got a ton of records. Many of those records are perfect for days like today.

Oatmello's Soft Landing fits the bill exactly for music that is excellent to chill out to. Containing two short EP's - one on each side - it's perfect for sitting back and taking in while getting ready for the day, both physically and mentally.

Like most music in this genre the atmosphere is chill and the instrumentation unintrusive. Nothing here is harsh, nothing calls undue attention to itself. It's mostly beats over guitar, piano, and other classical instrumentation.

The production on both sides has a vast feel to it, likely due to all the reverb. It's like sitting in an open meadow taking in nature as everything goes about its way around you. I'm just a part of the picture, not the central focus.

Soft Landing and records like it don't hit the turntable very often, but when they do they are exactly what is needed. It fills it's role nicely in my collection.
