I've had this on my "need to listen to soon" pile for a few weeks now. Out of all the live albums that I own, this one very well could be the best. This is the only place where you can hear some of Dead Can Dance's finest music.
The diversity of the the duo is fully on display here. Ranging from an entirely percussive track, to only Lisa's powerful voice, to 70's inspired folk music, to classical music... the list goes on, and it's all phenomenal. Most of the time when I listen to this album I forget that it's a live album until the audience comes in clapping and cheering.
Dead Can Dance are probably one of the most important musical projects to my musical development over the years. I got into them in the 90's and they helped show me that beauty and darkness are not mutually exclusive. Additionally, through their music I learned to enjoy the more subtle side of music... taking care to listen for the smaller details that can be lost in many genres.
It's hard for me to fully express how much I love Dead Can Dance's music, but there are few musical projects that I enjoy more than the combination of Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard.
