Entry 311 - Wizard of Loneliness - Divine Beats

 

I just flipped this record to side two a few moments and Terry Town came on. This song in Breath of the Wild is probably one of the best that has come out of Zelda in a long time. The way it builds over time as you add more people to the town is wonderful. Wiz is able to capture that magic just a little bit here... while I still highly prefer the original this one is a really nice hip hop rendition.

And that's just the start. Both sides of the record play out like a mix tape, everything blends together, all the beats match and an infectious groove is manifested throughout the run time of the record.

Not everything here is amazing... the intro is a bit out of place and so is the rap songs. I'm used to them now but man if you don't know they are coming they really break the flow of the album. That said when this album hits it's nearly unstoppable.

Half an hour is about right for an album like this. I really really wish that some of these sections were cut but overall this is a solid slab of hip hop beats. The highs are balanced out by the lows and overall you get a decent album... it's a shame though because it could have been an all time great.
