Entry 309 - Persona 3

I picked this game up on release... I still have it on my bookshelf in the next room. A couple of things I noticed right away with the game... it was nothing like Persona 1 and 2 on the PS1 and the music was something I had never quite heard before.

Persona 3's music combines dark jazz, lounge music and a litany of other genres into one incredibly cool package. The part that instantly drew me in was the vocal tracks. They are catchy, the female vocals are full of energy, and they are still as engaging today as they were the day I first heard them.

The rest of the music is quite varied as most video game soundtracks are. Ranging from the operatic Velvet Room theme (I'm so happy they included it on this instead of cutting it like they did on Persona 5), to the incredibly catchy over world theme, the music in Persona 3 is all over the place but is consistent in its incredible quality throughout its 2+ hour run time.

This is one of the very last video game soundtracks that I would consider truly essential to my collection. This and Persona 4 are god tier soundtracks in my estimation. My collection is another step closer to completion with this soundtrack added to it.
