Style: drum n bass, goth rock, chill
Primary Emotions/Themes: human kinds need to have more
Thoughts: Astrophysics is a project I have heard a few times before this, but never a full album. The stuff I had heard reminded me a bit of some of the breakcore stuff that's been surfacing in the last few years. Color me surprised when I put this record on and the first thing I hear is more like goth rock than anything else.
The Unending Need For Perpetual motion consists largely of guitar, bass, drums and dreary vocals. The music is upbeat indie/goth rock with small moments of drum n bass or ambient sections but overwhelmingly it's in the goth rock camp.
When I listen to the album I feel like the artist wanted to try something different but didn't quite a have a fully fleshed vision yet. This sounds like it could easily be a demo for an album that wasn't fully formed yet. It's not bad per see, I just think that it could have spent a bit more time being developed before the album was released.
Albums like this are a bit of a curiosity with me. I sometimes will get the urge to listen to goth rock and will put on an 80's album from The Cure or Sisters of Mercy where the style was truly perfected. I suppose that this album can end up in that rotation eventually as well as it shares a lot of similarities. Only time will tell though.
