Style: Video game music
Primary Emotions/Themes: the more combat and shrine focused part of the Breath of the Wild soundtrack
Thoughts: Lets talk Breath of the Wild Records for a bit here. This soundtrack was split up into five separate releases, each containing different parts of the soundtrack. This was the first one released, and it's arguably my least favorite of the bunch.
While the battle music in BOTW isn't bad, it's not the best part of the soundtrack. My favorite parts are the exploration and discovery moments (and Terry Town, but we'll get to that later). The music here is the most energetic and brass driven of the entire soundtrack. The individual songs themselves work great in the game as a break from the tranquil exploration music, but on their own they are a bit more difficult to digest.
The music in Breath of the Wild is one of the first times that Nintendo broke with the main themes that we've all gotten used to and love with Zelda. It's a risky move that ended up paying off in spades. The music is an integral part to the experience of the game and has become one of my favorite soundtracks in the entire franchise.
