Primary Emotions/Themes: A grittier and a bit darker take on the Zelda franchise
Thoughts: Zelda was in a weird place on the Gamecube. The series had been accused of being too kid friendly with Wind Waker (a statement that aged pretty poorly), and people wanted something a bit darker. Enter Twilight Princess.
The music in Twilight Princess has all of the whimsical nature of most Zelda games, but it recalls the same darker tones that Majora's Mask would end up featuring heavily. The resultant soundtrack is a bit more balanced than most Zelda soundtracks which tend to lean more towards the side of adventure. Twilight Princes still has that, but the music has darker undertones throughout the run time.
Twilight Princess is a game that is a bit of a mess story wise. It doesn't know really what it wants to be at first, but as soon as the mid point of the game is reached things start to become a bit clearer. The music does not have this challenge. It's well composed throughout the entire game and is one of the main reasons why I enjoyed it to the extent that I do.
