Style: Brutal death metal
Primary Emotions/Themes: fifteen of the most intense music you'll ever hear
Thoughts: Wormed has been around a long time. They release a new album rarely, and when they do it's a bit of an event for me. Normally I expect their music to be above average, however with Metaportal it went beyond that... this may very well be their best work.
Metaportal is fifteen minutes long. From the instant it starts it begins to pummel you with riffs and it doesn't stop until the album closes those fifteen minutes later. The riffs are brutally heavy, the vocals match in their violence as to the drums. There is simply no mercy.
Metaportal also has brief moments where they incorporate melody and atmosphere into the fold. These are brief but highly welcome moments throughout the album. They give my brain a morsel of normality to hold onto before I'm destroyed again by the next riff.
Whenever this short EP hits the turntable it will remain there for several spins. I'm of the mind that the short play length helps the appeal of this album. It has me salivating for another fix of the bands brutality. This is the very definition of wanting more.
