Style: Atmospheric black/folk metal
Primary Emotions/Themes: A beautiful and violent trip into the wonderful world of Saor
Thoughts: If there is one band who has mastered atmospheric black metal in the modern lexicon it's Saor. They have managed to create a consistent sound that fills my heart with joy and awe every time I listen to their discography.
Guardians is the continuation of the Saor legacy. The combination of black metal with folk instruments playing on top for long periods of time never gets old for me. These songs could go on for thirty minutes and the way they are constructed I would never get bored. Every time Guardians (or any other Saor record except for Origins) his the turntable it's stuck there for at least a few spins.
I love the music that Andrew Marshall creates. The fact that he keeps creating this style of music over the course of six albums now and that it hasn't worn out it's welcome with me shows just how enduring the style is. Saor sets the standard for folk/black metal.
