Style: Cinematic ambient
Primary Emotions/Themes: The world is crumbling around my feet, there is nothing left but to accept the inevitable
Thoughts: The world is burning. I stare up at a flag that was once proud, now littered in ruins. The earth beneath my feet is tarnished with the blood and ashes of my brethren. There is only death and decay... I must move beyond this hell.
Sabled Sun is one of the many projects of Simon Heath. This particular project started as a droning ambient, but slowly became more expressive and cinematic as time went on. By the time 2149 was released the music produced a highly visual component along with the music.
There still is not a lot of structure to the music, but there is some. Sometimes the music will have a discernable meter - other times it goes back to its droning roots. Regardless the music creates a striking visual. For me this visual is a barren landscape, littered with cities that once stood tall but have fallen to the will of time. The world has crumbled, yet I still stand. There is so little left, yet the human spirit endures with what little we do have... that is what 2149 speaks to me as.
