Style: Video game music, various genres
Primary Emotions/Themes: Final Fantasy (duh!)
Thoughts: I'll be honest here, the thing that immediately caught my attention with this album was the cover. I mean who doesn't like a nice side shot of Tifa's ass (and a nice tribute to The Strokes)? Brazen as it is, the music is ultimately what is more important here.
As the title implies these two records contain most of the jukebox music that is found within the first installment of the Final Fantasy 7 remake. While at first I didn't pay too much attention to them in the game, after a while they start catching your attention. When you go near a new jukebox a song will be playing.
I often found my self doing the Leonardo DeCaprio meme "I know this one!" The major difference between the in game versions of these songs and the record version is we don't have the "static fuzz" mixed in with them. These tracks are all bright as day without any additional effects layered on.
The music itself is largely remixes of the original Final Fantasy VII soundtrack using updated genres and instruments. Do you want a dance remix of the title screen? You got it. How about a big band version of Bombing Mission? Yep that's here too. How about a Chocobo theme remixed trap style? Got ya covered boss.
The music on here is really all over the place. It's a really fun side note that they put into the game as something to collect. While the vinyl release doesn't cover everything, it sure gets all the highlights. To reference another meme: I just think it's neat.
